Jewel in the Crown

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands. In fact, it is considered to be the jewel in the crown with beautiful crystal clear waters, clean, award-winning beaches, lush green forests and mountains which are home to Cypress, Pine and Olive Trees. Despite it being the largest island it still very much retains its natural local charm, relaxed lifestyle and delicious Greek cuisine.

The island has become a popular destination with families and couples alike. Blessed with exotic beaches including; Myrtos, Antisamos, Lourdas and Skala to name but a few, you are spoilt for choice. As well as beaches, it boasts a plethora of sites to feast upon, such as the ancient Drogarati Caves or Melissani Lake, Assos Castle and the picturesque town of Fiskardo. Indeed this was one of the few places unaffected by the devastating earthquake of 1953 preserving the beautiful Venetian architecture adorned in pastel colours.

The heart of Kefalonia, Argostoli, is set on the harbour with a stunning mountainous backdrop. With its mixture of shops, cafes and bars, Argostoli certainly has a more cosmopolitan feel. A morning stroll along the promenade more often than not results in the resident turtles making a cheeky appearance!
